Noor Zafar Slams Reham Khan for Dragging Sarah Khan’s Daughter into Feminism Debate
Pakistani actress Noor Zafar Khan has fiercely condemned Reham Khan for making what she described as “insensitive and inappropriate remarks” involving her niece, Alyana Falak, amid a growing debate on feminism and gender roles.
The controversy began when actress Sarah Khan, known for her traditional views, recently made headlines for stating that she “can’t even stand in lines to pay bills” and chooses to let her husband, singer Falak Shabir, handle financial matters. Her comments sparked a fierce backlash, with many accusing her of reinforcing regressive stereotypes.
Among the critics was journalist and former first lady Reham Khan, who commented that Sarah should remember the freedoms she enjoys today are thanks to the women’s rights movement.
“Even if you don’t believe in feminism, there’s no reason to say something regressive,” Reham stated. “People in positions of privilege should speak up for those who are not.”
However, the controversy took a disturbing turn when Reham referenced Sarah’s three-year-old daughter Alyana, hypothesizing a future where she might face gender-based oppression without movements like feminism to defend her rights.
This provoked strong criticism from Sarah’s sister, Noor Zafar, who took to Instagram to voice her outrage:
“You talk about feminism, but then you stoop so low as to bring a three-year-old kid into the conversation. Is this your idea of empowerment?”
She further wrote, “Is that what feminism has come to — dragging a child into your arguments just to take a jab at her mother?”
The backlash has sparked a wider debate on media ethics and the boundaries of public discourse, with many social media users agreeing that involving a minor in political or ideological debate is unacceptable.
As the public continues to weigh in, the incident serves as a reminder of the responsibility public figures hold when discussing sensitive topics — especially involving families and children.
