Reham Rafiq comments on teenage love angles in ‘Parwarish’
Pakistani rising star Reham Rafiq, in an interview, expressed her views on the portrayal of teenage romance in the drama serial ‘Parwarish’.
The actress was a guest on Maliha Rehman’s show, where she talked about her thoughts on various aspects of the drama and the portrayal of different characters as well.
The host initiated a discussion by saying, “There are very intelligent teenage kids in the drama. All of them have a long way to go. They haven’t even begun yet. Time is not in favour of long-term commitments. They aren’t big enough, but why are those big decisions about their marriage being taken?”
Reham responded: “The teenagers in the drama show that the audience should accept that teenagers also go through these phases of life. But we don’t really accept it. Yes, there are love angles in the drama serial, but that is not the main focus, actually.”
Maliha asked: “The main plot of the drama revolves around parenting. Don’t you think that by involving love angles, the attention automatically diverts away from the main plot?”
Reham said: “Yes, the attention diverts towards the love plot, but we, as an audience, should also change our mindset a little bit. Why don’t we think about other characters like Aania? What is her trauma? What’s her story? Why is she like this? Why was she talking to herself on the phone?”
She added, “There are people who might be going through this problem of trauma and depression. They feel confident that at least I’m not alone. There are others who feel the same thing as well.”
The trending drama ‘Parwarish’ has struck a deep chord with audiences, particularly for its portrayal of generational trauma, parental authority, and maternal courage.
