New SHC and PHC Chief Justices Officially Sworn In

Justice Mohammad Junaid Ghaffar was officially sworn in as the Chief Justice of the Sindh High Court during a formal ceremony held at a venue of historic national significance in Karachi, where Pakistan’s founding father, Muhammad Ali Jinnah, had once taken his own oath of office. Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori administered the oath, in the presence of Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah and other notable dignitaries, marking the first time this particular location hosted such a ceremony. Following the event, Justice Ghaffar visited the Mazar-e-Quaid, offering fateha and laying a floral wreath at the mausoleum. Earlier this week, President Asif Ali Zardari sanctioned the appointment of new chief justices for all four high courts, with the Law Ministry issuing formal notifications accordingly. Justice Sarfraz Dogar has been named Chief Justice of the Islamabad High Court, Justice SM Attique Shah as Chief Justice of the Peshawar High Court, Justice Rozi Khan for the Balochistan High Court, and Justice Junaid Ghaffar for the Sindh High Court. In Peshawar, Justice Atiq Shah officially assumed his role as Chief Justice of the Peshawar High Court in a ceremony held at the Governor House. KP Governor Faisal Karim Kundi administered the oath in the presence of Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur. The position became vacant following the elevation of Justice Ishtiaq Ibrahim to the Supreme Court. The event was attended by senior judges, legal professionals, and government officials.
