UK-Based Kashmiri Sells Properties to Build 35 Schools in Azad Kashmir

Jul 8, 2025

In an extraordinary act of humanitarian devotion, Chaudhry Muhammad Aslam, a British-Kashmiri man originally from Mirpur, has dedicated his life savings to the future of children in Azad Kashmir. After witnessing the dire state of education infrastructure during a visit in 2023—nearly two decades after the devastating 2005 earthquake—he made the life-altering decision to sell all five of his properties in the United Kingdom. The proceeds, amounting to crores of rupees, were used to build 35 fully-equipped, modern schools across the worst-hit districts of Bagh, Haveli, Pallandri, Rawalakot, and Muzaffarabad. Collaborating with the UK-based Muslim Charity, Aslam personally oversaw the construction of these educational facilities. His sacrifice has brought new hope to thousands of children who previously studied without shelter or basic amenities, ensuring they now have access to a dignified learning environment and a path toward a better future.
