
CM Maryam Orders Emergency Preparedness Amid Heavy Rains in Punjab
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has instructed key provincial departments, including WASA, the Punjab Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), local government bodies, Rescue 1122, and traffic police, to remain on high alert amid ongoing heavy rainfall across the province, particularly in Lahore. She emphasized the importance of field presence by officials to personally oversee rescue and drainage operations. Commissioners and deputy commissioners have been tasked with monitoring the removal of rainwater in rural areas to prevent flooding. Additionally, the chief minister has asked for a detailed traffic management plan to provide alternate routes and ease public movement during weather disruptions. Stressing the need for immediate and coordinated efforts, she called for rapid action to ensure timely relief and minimize public inconvenience caused by the downpour.
