
87 Dead, 149 Injured in Rain-Related Incidents Across Pakistan: NDMA Report
ISLAMABAD – July 11:
Heavy monsoon rains have claimed 87 lives and injured 149 others across Pakistan over the past 15 days, according to the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA).
The NDMA’s latest report highlights the devastating impact of seasonal downpours, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Punjab, where the majority of casualties were recorded.
Province-wise Breakdown:
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: 30 deaths, including 14 children; 30 injured
Punjab: 29 deaths (15 children, 4 women); 77 injured
Sindh: 16 deaths; 34 injured
Balochistan: 11 deaths; 3 injured
Azad Kashmir: 1 death; 5 injured
In the last 24 hours alone, six more people were reported dead due to rain-related incidents.
Infrastructure & Livestock Damage
The monsoon also wreaked havoc on infrastructure and livestock:
242 houses damaged: 171 partially, 71 completely
106 cattle perished
7 km of roads destroyed
3 bridges collapsed
The NDMA continues to monitor the situation and coordinate with provincial authorities for emergency response and rehabilitation. Citizens are advised to stay alert, especially in flood-prone and low-lying areas, as more rain is expected in the coming days.
