Washington: (Web Desk) US President Donald Trump, in an open letter, has threatened to impose a 50% tax on the Brazilian government, calling its attacks on American technology companies and the ongoing legal proceedings against former President Jair Bolsonaro political revenge.
Responding to Trump’s statement, Brazilian President Silva warned that if tariffs on Brazilian products were increased, the response would be met with equal severity, and that no foreign interference in the Brazilian judicial system would be accepted.
Trump said in his letter that the new 50 percent rate is necessary to correct the serious injustices of the current administration. He will order the US Trade Representative to initiate an investigation into Brazil’s digital trade practices under Section 301, the same legal method through which the US has imposed import taxes in the past.
Trump strongly criticized Brazil’s court rulings against American social media companies, including Trump’s own company, Trump Media. He reiterated his support for Bolsonaro, saying the case against him was an international embarrassment.
Trump also criticized the BRICS summit, calling it anti-American and threatening to impose an additional 10 percent tax on countries in the alliance.

US President Donald Trump was impressed by the Liberian president’s fluent English, which led to an interesting conversation between the two leaders.
The incident occurred when a delegation of African leaders arrived at the White House to meet with President Trump. During this time, some of the leaders were speaking in different languages, but when the Liberian president took the mic, he spoke fluently in English, which surprised President Trump.
