Massive Fire Engulfs Multi-Storey Building in Shikarpur’s Sarafa Bazaar

Jul 13, 2025

Shikarpur – July 14, 2025: A devastating fire broke out on Monday at Kashif Departmental Store in Sarafa Bazaar, Shikarpur, gutting a three-storey building and causing damages estimated at over Rs20 million, according to local officials.

The fire, believed to have been triggered by a short circuit in the solar power system, began on the upper floors of the building and quickly spread downward. The blaze raised concerns about the fire possibly reaching Dhak Bazaar, a densely packed nearby commercial area.

Rescue and Firefighting Operations Underway
Fire brigade teams reached the site promptly and began fire containment efforts, but sealed access points and nearby structural closures hampered their response. Additional fire tenders were summoned to strengthen the firefighting operation.

“We’re doing everything we can to contain the fire before it reaches neighboring structures,” said a senior fire official.

Officials from SEPCO (Sukkur Electric Power Company) confirmed that the fire originated due to a malfunction in the solar system wiring.

No Casualties Reported So Far
Fortunately, no loss of life or injuries have been reported. Emergency response teams continue to remain on high alert as cooling operations and damage assessments are underway.

Commercial Activity Disrupted

The incident has caused significant disruption to business in Shikarpur’s central commercial hub, with Sarafa Bazaar and adjoining areas temporarily shut down as a precaution.

Authorities are now conducting investigations to determine the exact cause of the fire and assess building code violations, if any.
