CM Maryam Nawaz Inspects Rainwater Drainage in Lahore Amid Monsoon Showers
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz visited several rain-affected areas of Lahore on Monday to assess the city’s drainage system following recent monsoon showers.
The Chief Minister toured key areas including Misri Shah, Lakshmi Chowk, and other parts of the provincial capital. She directed authorities to expedite drainage operations and ensure adjacent roads were promptly cleared of standing water.
Maryam Nawaz also instructed local administration to maintain cleanliness and monitor traffic flow to minimize public inconvenience during the ongoing wet spell.
Earlier in the day, light rain across Lahore and its surroundings provided relief from intense heat, marking the second spell of the monsoon. However, the rainfall also led to disruptions in electricity supply, as multiple LESCO feeders tripped, causing power outages in various localities.
Areas that experienced rainfall included Defence, Ghazi Road, Ferozepur Road, Walton, Mall Road, Gulberg, Kalma Chowk, Sanda, and Garden Town.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), this monsoon spell is expected to continue until Thursday.
