Hyderabad: Water from Monday’s rains has accumulated on people so far, causing problems for women

Despite the heavy rains in Hyderabad for more than 30 hours, rainwater has not been drained from several areas of the city.

The water from the heavy rains that occurred in Hyderabad on Monday evening has not been drained yet, with many places still under water.

Several areas including Railway Colony, Railway Station, Fateh Chowk, Maki Shah Road, Commissioner Office, DIG and Deputy Commissioner offices, District Secretariat and New Cloth Market are becoming a test for citizens and commuters due to standing water. Schools, colleges, government offices, markets and low-lying residential colonies continue to be submerged, causing severe hardship to citizens.
Citizens say that waterlogging on the roads has disrupted traffic and affected businesses, and the stench of sewage has made life unbearable.

According to a HESCO spokesperson, 150 of the city’s 152 feeders have been restored, while work is underway on the remaining two feeders.
Meanwhile, Hyderabad Mayor Kashif Shoro claims that 90% of the water has been drained from the city and the remaining 10% is in low-lying areas where drainage is slow.

It should be noted that drainage of rainwater or sewage in Hyderabad depends on pumping stations. Due to the lack of a permanent and effective drainage system, every rain brings double suffering to the citizens.
