Massive Seizure of Donkey Meat in Islamabad: Chinese National Detained
Islamabad – July 27, 2025: Authorities in Islamabad have launched a major investigation after seizing over 1,000 kilograms of donkey meat from a local farm during a joint operation by the Food Safety Department and Sangjani Police.
Acting on a formal complaint filed by a food safety officer, law enforcement personnel raided the premises located in the Sangjani area. The operation led to the discovery of 1,000 kg of donkey meat and 45 live donkeys on the site. The individuals at the farm were unable to provide any legal documentation for the processing or distribution of meat products.
A Chinese national was taken into custody for further interrogation. Investigators suspect the operation may be part of a wider illegal meat distribution network.
The entire stock of prohibited meat was immediately confiscated and destroyed by the food safety team in accordance with regulatory protocols. Officials are now probing whether any of the illicit meat had already been distributed to local markets.
Authorities have warned that such practices not only violate food safety and religious standards but also pose significant public health risks. Legal proceedings have been initiated, and further arrests may follow as the investigation progresses.
