
Eight Killed, 18 Injured as Passenger Bus Overturns on M-2 Motorway near Chakwal
Chakwal – July 27, 2025:
A devastating road accident occurred early Sunday when a passenger bus overturned on the M-2 Motorway near Balkasar Interchange, resulting in eight fatalities and 18 injuries, according to the Motorway Police.
The tragedy unfolded when the bus, operated by a private company, was traveling from Rawalpindi to Lahore. A sudden burst of the left-side tyre caused the driver to lose control, leading the high-speed vehicle to flip over.
Emergency services, including Motorway Police and Rescue 1122, rushed to the crash site and initiated rescue operations. The deceased and injured were transported to the District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital in Chakwal, where seven passengers remain in critical condition. Two individuals were treated on-site for minor injuries.
A crane was deployed to stabilize and remove the overturned vehicle from the road to restore traffic flow. First aid was administered by paramedics on the scene.

A one-year-old child (unnamed)

Investigations are ongoing to determine if negligence or mechanical failure contributed to the fatal accident. Authorities have reiterated the need for strict vehicle safety compliance and driver training to prevent such tragedies.
