Indian Actress Ruchi Gujjar Hits Producer with Chappal at Film Screening

Jul 27, 2025

Mumbai – July 27, 2025:
In a shocking turn of events, Indian actress Ruchi Gujjar publicly confronted director-producer Man Singh during the screening of his latest film So Long Valley — striking him with a chappal (sandal) in front of a live audience.

The incident, which unfolded at Cinepolis Mumbai, was caught on camera and has gone viral across Indian social media platforms, igniting intense debate about exploitation in the entertainment industry.

Protest Turns Physical at Theatre
Ruchi Gujjar arrived at the venue flanked by a group of protestors, chanting slogans and waving banners that accused the producers of the film of fraud and misrepresentation.

Shocking visuals show posters with red crosses over the faces of producers, while others depicted them seated on donkeys, a symbolic insult in Indian protest culture.

The confrontation quickly escalated when Ruchi walked up to Man Singh and struck him with a chappal, shouting accusations over an alleged financial scam.

Alleged Financial Fraud Behind Outburst
According to multiple media reports, the altercation traces back to a financial dispute involving producer Karan Singh Chauhan, who is associated with So Long Valley via K Studios.

Ruchi claims that in 2024, Chauhan approached her with a co-production offer for a Hindi TV serial supposedly backed by Sony TV. Trusting the pitch, Ruchi’s company SR Event and Entertainment transferred a significant sum into Chauhan’s linked accounts.

“Despite receiving official-looking documents, the project never materialized. After months of delays and lies, I discovered the funds may have been redirected to produce So Long Valley,” Ruchi told reporters.

Police Action Taken
In response to the allegations, the Mumbai Police have filed an FIR against Karan Singh Chauhan under charges of cheating and financial fraud. The case is currently under investigation.

Meanwhile, the viral nature of the video has sparked widespread discussions online, with many applauding Ruchi for her boldness, while others question whether violence was the right course of action.

“It takes guts to stand up like that in public. She’s clearly been wronged,” one user wrote on Instagram.
“But hitting someone with a chappal? That’s not the way to handle business disputes,” another commented.

Industry Impact
The incident has put a spotlight on trust issues in film financing, especially for independent artists and female producers. Ruchi Gujjar, known for her strong screen presence, is now being praised for taking a stand against what she claims is systemic deception in entertainment deals.

So far, K Studios has not issued an official statement, and Man Singh has remained silent about the incident.
