
Congo: Separatist armed group attacks church, 21 killed
Kinshasa: Members of the separatist armed group Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) attacked a Catholic church in the town of Komanda in eastern Congo, killing more than 21 people and burning down several houses and shops.
According to a report by the US news agency, members of the group called Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) attacked the Catholic church at 1 pm local time.
The civil society coordinator of Komanda told the news agency that more than 21 people were shot inside and outside the church. We have recovered some burnt bodies while several houses were also burnt, but the search operation is still ongoing.
The Congolese army in the province has confirmed that 10 people were killed in the attack. Many citizens have fled the area in fear after the attack and headed towards Bunia.
The military spokesman said that we know that today armed men attacked a church in which 10 people were killed and some shops were also burned down. This group had also killed dozens of people in the same province since early July.
