Bangladeshi actress arrested in India
Bangladeshi YouTuber and model Shanta Pal has been arrested from Kolkata on charges of possessing multiple fake Indian documents.
According to the report, the police raided a rented flat in Kolkata’s Bikramgarh area and arrested the actress, unearthing a large network of fake ID cards being made from her home.
Police have recovered two fake Aadhaar cards, a voter ID, a ration card and a PAN card from the possession of 28-year-old Shanta Pal, all registered at different addresses in West Bengal.
According to the police, the actress was living in hiding in India even after her visa expired, while she had come to Kolkata in 2023.
Authorities say she was obtaining the fake documents through a network of brokers to blend in with the locals. Shantapal was arrested when police asked her for a valid visa during a routine check, which she could not produce.
During the subsequent search, fake documents, as well as several Bangladeshi passports and other personal identification cards, were recovered from them.
