PESHAWAR: ( ) Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) central leaders Omar Ayub and Senator Shibli Faraz have challenged the Election Commission’s decision to de-notify them in the Peshawar High Court.
In the petition filed by both leaders in the Peshawar High Court, it has been taken the position that the Election Commission’s decision is illegal, unconstitutional and malicious.
The petition has requested that the decision of the Election Commission be declared null and void.
The petitioners say that the Election Commission issued the decision to de-notify without hearing us, which is against the basic principles of justice, the decision was pronounced without giving us an opportunity to clarify, which is illegal.
It should be recalled that the Election Commission of Pakistan yesterday disqualified 9 members of parliament, including several important leaders of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf. This decision includes Senator Shibli Faraz, Member of National Assembly Omar Ayub and others who were de-notified after being sentenced in the May 9 cases.
