NATO calls Trump’s security guarantee to Ukraine a major breakthrough
Washington: (Web Desk) NATO has called Trump’s offer of security guarantees to Ukraine a major breakthrough.
NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, speaking at a multilateral meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and European leaders at the White House, described the US president’s offer of security guarantees to Ukraine as a major breakthrough in peace talks, saying the move could have a profound impact on the outcome of the talks.
Mark Rutte reminded President Trump, “You said you were willing to provide security guarantees to Ukraine. This is a big step. This is a real breakthrough and it changes everything. So thank you for that too.”
Earlier, while speaking with Zelensky in the Oval Office, Trump did not rule out the possibility that the United States could send troops to help Ukraine to preserve a potential peace deal. US President Donald Trump said that we will tell you about it probably today or in a few days.
The NATO secretary also praised the US president for “ending the deadlock” and bringing Russian President Vladimir Putin back to the negotiating table.
