Lahore:(Web News)Senior Pakistani actress Laila Wasti has made an emotional revelation about her battle with cancer. She said that her life was saved by a German who became her bone marrow donor.

Laila Wasti recently appeared as a guest on a private television program. During the interview, she spoke about her career, personal life, and her toughest health struggle. She shared details of how she faced cancer, how she survived chemotherapy, and how she eventually received a bone marrow transplant.

The actress explained that bone marrow transplants are extremely complex. She said that just like DNA, every blood sample has a unique design. For this reason, finding a matching donor is very difficult. Many patients wait for years to find a suitable match. During this time, they often have to go through multiple painful chemotherapy sessions.

She added that in most cases, siblings are the closest matches for bone marrow donation. However, in her case, none of her brothers, sisters, family members, or close friends matched. This situation made her treatment even more challenging.

Laila said that when family members are not a match, the search for donors becomes long and uncertain. In many cases, patients wait for years and still do not find a suitable donor. Sometimes, they are lucky if even one person matches after a long search.

In her journey, however, something unusual happened. She was able to find not just one, but 19 potential donors whose bone marrow matched with hers. Among them, one donor from Germany eventually became the source of her recovery.
She described this as a life-changing moment. She said that without this transplant, her survival would not have been possible. She expressed deep gratitude to her donor and said that this person gave her a second chance at life.

Laila Wasti’s story has inspired many. Her account highlights both the difficulties of fighting cancer and the importance of international donor programs that save countless lives across the world.
