Italy qualified for the T20 World Cup for the first time, securing a place in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 to be held in India and Sri Lanka next year.

Italy achieved this feat with victories over Guernsey and Scotland in the Europe Qualifier 2025 event, after which they became the 13th country to qualify for the event, while the Netherlands are the 14th country to qualify in this unit.
According to the ICC, a total of 20 teams will participate in the T20 World Cup 2026. In addition to hosts India and Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, England, South Africa, West Indies, the United States and New Zealand have already qualified by reaching the Super Eight stage of the last World Cup.
Pakistan, New Zealand and Ireland have qualified directly for the event based on their ICC T20 International rankings.

The remaining 6 teams for the T20 World Cup 2026 will now be decided through regional qualifiers, which will include 2 teams from Africa, 1 from the Americas and 3 from the Asia/East Asia Pacific region.
