LAHORE : In a significant move to strengthen cricketing ties between Pakistan and Bangladesh, veteran statistician and sports writer Ghalib Bajwa has offered his expertise to the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). With over three decades of experience, Bajwa expressed his willingness to contribute advanced statistical insights to foster a deeper passion for cricket among Bangladesh’s younger players.
Bajwa highlighted that his exclusive collection of cricket statistics could provide Bangladesh with a competitive advantage over rivals such as India. His work will encompass domestic first-class, one-day, and T20 competitions for both men and women, introducing unique statistical compilations that have never been formally documented before. “These attractive stats will definitely create an urge among the young Bangladeshi cricketers to further polish and improve their playing techniques,” he said.
He emphasized that Pakistan and Bangladesh both have immense cricketing potential and should collaborate strategically, particularly in cricket analytics, to counter India’s dominance. Bajwa described statistics as the “backbone of the game,” essential for shaping strategies and inspiring players.
Additionally, Bajwa praised the Pakistan Cricket Board, under Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, for extending support to Bangladesh amid strained relations with India. He noted Pakistan has acted as an “elder brother” by offering solidarity, especially after Bangladesh raised security concerns during T20 World Cup matches scheduled in India.
