Pakistan Conducts Cross-Border Strikes, Neutralises Nearly 70 Militants Along Afghanistan Border
Islamabad,Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry announced that nearly 70 militants were killed after Pakistan carried out intelligence-based strikes on terrorist targets along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, part of an ongoing effort to curb cross-border militancy.
The operations reportedly targeted seven militant camps and hideouts across three different areas inside Afghanistan, including the Barmal area of Paktika province, Khogyani district in Nangarhar province, and Ghani Khel, Behsud, and Argoon along the border belt.
According to initial reports, most of the slain militants were Pakistani nationals affiliated with banned outfits, including Fitna al-Khawarij (FAK), its affiliates, and Daesh-Khorasan, who were linked to recent suicide bombings in Islamabad, Bajaur, and Bannu.
The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting described the strikes as “precise and accurate,” stressing that they were retaliatory actions against attacks orchestrated by Afghanistan-based handlers and claimed by elements of the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
Minister Chaudhry emphasized that the cross-border operation is in line with Pakistan’s ongoing internal counterterrorism campaign, which has seen nearly 70,000 intelligence-based operations nationwide, resulting in numerous arrests and elimination of militants.
“Afghanistan has long been exporting terrorism. Pakistan is taking all actions to secure the life and property of its citizens,” he said, underscoring the government’s resolve to act decisively against national security threats while maintaining efforts to foster cordial relations with neighbours.
