Rawalpindi – Pakistan’s military campaign against militant sanctuaries across the border has achieved significant successes, with security sources confirming on Thursday that several mid-level leaders of the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) —referred to by authorities as Fitna al-Khawarij—have been eliminated.
The strikes, conducted under the ongoing Operation Ghazab-lil-Haq, targeted militant infrastructure linked to insurgent groups responsible for attacks inside Pakistan, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
“Security sources said the militant leadership suffered significant losses during recent strikes,” officials stated, though the exact identities of those killed were not immediately disclosed.
Over 50 Airstrikes in Intensified Campaign
In a major escalation, Pakistani security forces conducted more than 50 airstrikes on positions associated with militant groups and elements linked to the Afghan Taliban.
During the night between March 4 and 5, forces targeted 41 locations believed to be connected with militant activity. The operations focused on areas close to the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, including the sectors of Chaman, Zhob, Killa Saifullah, and Nushki.
Sources reported significant casualties among militant fighters and the destruction of several facilities used by insurgent groups. The full extent of the losses has not yet been officially confirmed.
“Our strategy focuses solely on terrorist hideouts, not civilians,” security sources emphasized, adding that the military actions are intelligence-based operations designed to dismantle militant infrastructure and disrupt cross-border attacks.
Kandahar Corps Headquarters Destroyed
In a particularly significant blow to militant capabilities, security sources confirmed that Pakistani forces successfully destroyed the headquarters of the 205 Corps Brigade of the Afghan Taliban in Kandahar.
Several ammunition depots were also targeted in the precision strikes, significantly weakening the militants’ operational capabilities and their ability to sustain further attacks.
Officials stated that the strikes were conducted based on intelligence assessments identifying strategic locations used by militant groups for planning and logistics.
Afghan Taliban Complicity Alleged
Authorities reiterated claims that members of the Afghan Taliban regime have been involved in supporting militant activity targeting Pakistan.
The ongoing campaign, officials stressed, is focused exclusively on armed groups and does not target civilians or the general Afghan population.
Operation Continuing
The military campaign under Operation Ghazab-lil-Haq is continuing, with security officials indicating that further actions will be carried out as necessary against designated militant targets in the region.
The strikes represent Pakistan’s firm response to cross-border terrorism and its determination to protect its sovereignty and citizens from militant attacks originating from Afghan soil.
