PCB:season begins with the Hanif Muhammad Trophy on August 15

Lahore: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced a new domestic calendar. Under the program, the season will start from August 15 with the Hanif Muhammad Trophy.

The Champions Cup, introduced last year, has been completely abolished. T20, One-Day and Four-Day cricket tournaments were included in the Champions Cup. Last year, the Champions Cup T20 and Champions One-Day Cup were held.
In addition, the number of teams in the first-class tournament Quaid-e-Azam Trophy has also been reduced. A total of 8 teams will compete in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy 2025-26, 6 teams directly and 2 teams who are finalists of the Hanif Muhammad Trophy will be eligible to play the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy. 18 teams from 16 regions participated in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy 2024-25.
The Pakistan Cricket Board has increased the number of departmental tournaments from 3 to 4, adding Grade 3 to the departmental tournaments, in addition to the President’s Trophy, President’s Cup, Grade 2.

In addition, a qualifying system has been introduced in the National T20 Cup, 8 teams will enter the National T20 Cup Super Ten stage directly and 2 teams will come from the qualifying round, the National T20 tournament will be held in Faisalabad from March 1 to 12.
The Hanif Muhammad Trophy includes 12 teams, whose matches will be held in Quetta and Karachi, the top 2 teams of the tournament will qualify for the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy.

The Quaid-e-Azam Trophy will be played from September 22 to November 7, in which 8 teams will participate and 29 matches will be played between them in Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
