PM and Interior Minister Praise Forces for Peaceful Youm-e-Ashura Nationwide
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Federal Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi have commended the tireless efforts of Pakistan’s security institutions and provincial administrations for ensuring a peaceful and secure observance of Youm-e-Ashura across the country.
In separate posts shared on the social media platform X, both leaders extended their heartfelt appreciation to all forces involved in maintaining law and order during the sacred days of Muharram, particularly on Ashura.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that he had received a comprehensive security briefing from Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi. He acknowledged the seamless coordination between security agencies and local administrations in safeguarding religious processions and gatherings.
“I deeply appreciate the well-coordinated efforts of provincial governments, security forces, police, and Rangers in ensuring a peaceful and secure observance of Youm-e-Ashura across the country,” said the prime minister in his message. “I also commend the leadership of Chief Ministers Maryam Nawaz (Punjab), Murad Ali Shah (Sindh), Ali Amin Gandapur (KP), Mir Sarfraz Bugti (Balochistan), Gulbar Khan (Gilgit-Baltistan), and Prime Minister Anwar ul Haq (AJK) for their effective oversight in this regard.”
Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi echoed similar sentiments, stating in his message that the professionalism, commitment, and round-the-clock vigilance of Pakistan’s security forces enabled mourners to participate in Ashura rituals with dignity and safety.
“I extend my heartfelt appreciation to all officers and personnel from the Pakistan Army, Rangers, Police, Intelligence Agencies, Civil Defence, and local administrations,” Naqvi stated. “Your dedication is a testament to the strength and professionalism of our institutions.”
The interior minister also met with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Lahore late Sunday night, where he provided a detailed report on the nationwide security arrangements made for Youm-e-Ashura.
The premier lauded the effective planning and execution of security strategies by the federal and provincial governments, stating that the peaceful atmosphere was a result of “elaborate and professional planning.”
Youm-e-Ashura, which marks the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA), is observed with deep reverence across Pakistan. Ensuring peace and security during the religious processions is a high national priority due to the sensitive nature of the events.
The leadership’s appreciation reflects a broader recognition of the sacrifices and vigilance of Pakistan’s law enforcement and military personnel during this crucial period.
