PM Shehbaz Optimistic About Positive Results from Trump’s Meeting with Muslim Leaders on Gaza

Sep 28, 2025

London – September 28, 2025:
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has expressed optimism that US President Donald Trump’s recent consultations with Muslim leaders on the Gaza conflict will soon yield “encouraging” outcomes.

Addressing overseas Pakistanis at the Pakistan High Commission in London, flanked by Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, the premier said:

“Pakistan fully participated in the Gaza meeting, and God willing, its results will be positive.”

PM Shehbaz stressed that Pakistan is actively supporting Trump-led efforts to end Israel’s assault on Gaza and ensure peace in Palestine. He voiced deep concern over the humanitarian crisis, praying for an end to the ongoing “cruelty and barbarity” faced by Palestinians since October 2023.

The high-profile meeting, held on the sidelines of the 80th UN General Assembly in New York, brought together leaders from Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the UAE, Egypt, Jordan, Turkiye, and Indonesia. President Trump reportedly presented a multi-step plan, including:

An immediate ceasefire and the release of hostages.

A phased Israeli withdrawal from Gaza.

Exclusion of Hamas from governance, with a role for the Palestinian Authority.

Deployment of Arab and Muslim peacekeepers to oversee Gaza’s transition.

Internationally backed reconstruction programmes funded by regional contributors.

FM Ishaq Dar also expressed hope, noting that follow-up communications with US officials were ongoing.

Separately, PM Shehbaz highlighted his engagements at the UNGA session, where he represented Pakistan on key issues, including Kashmir. He also termed his bilateral talks with Trump in Washington as “constructive and productive,” expressing confidence in strengthening Pakistan-US relations.
