Premier Scott Moe announces details of China-Canada preliminary deal on canola, peas tariffs

Canada and China have reached a preliminary agreement to remove all tariffs from canola meal and peas, Premier Scott Moe announced at a news conference in Saskatoon on Tuesday.

Moe spoke alongside provincial ministers of agriculture and trade and export development across Canada and representatives from industry stakeholder groups at a news conference on the agreement early Tuesday afternoon at the University of Saskatchewan.

“This progress also demonstrates the importance of foreign trade missions and shows what can be achieved when the federal and provincial governments and our export industries work together to strengthen our trade relationships,” Moe said in a news release earlier Tuesday.
