Scream 7 slashes its way to No. 1 at North American box office

“Scream 7” carved out a franchise-best debut, topping the North American box office with $64.1 million in its opening weekend, according to industry estimates. The latest installment in the long-running slasher series also pushed its worldwide total past $97 million, per Exhibitor Relations, marking the strongest opening in the franchise’s 30-year history (Box Office Mojo data).

Original heroine Sidney Prescott returns, played by Neve Campbell, alongside franchise veterans Courteney Cox and David Arquette. The film once again centers on a new Ghostface killer terrorizing familiar characters.

Analyst David A. Gross of Franchise Entertainment Research called the performance “sensational business,” noting that loyal fans continue to show up for characters they know and love.

Top 5 at the North American Box Office

2. GOAT – $12 million**
Sony’s family animated feature about an undersized goat dreaming of joining a “roarball” team slipped to second place. The film was produced by NBA star Stephen Curry, who also lends his voice.

3. Wuthering Heights – $7 million**
Starring Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi, this adaptation of Emily Brontë’s classic novel dropped to third place.

4. Twenty-One Pilots: More than We Ever Imagined – $4.3 million**
A concert film featuring the US band’s performance in Mexico City debuted in fourth place.

5. EPiC: Elvis Presley in Concert – $3.5 million**
Directed by Baz Luhrmann, the Neon documentary showcases remastered footage of rock legend Elvis Presley and expanded to wider release.
