
Lahore Fort’s Restoration Gains Global Spotlight – German Support Helps Revive UNESCO Heritage Site
Lahore :The historic Lahore Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, continues to stand as a testament to Pakistan’s glorious Mughal-era architecture. Germany has played a significant role in the ongoing preservation efforts, particularly through its contribution to the restoration of the *Fort’s iconic Picture Wall — one of the largest mural walls in the world.

According to the *German Embassy in Islamabad, the restoration marks an important milestone in protecting Pakistan’s cultural heritage. The embassy revealed that the *hidden basements, tunnels, and staircases within the Fort — areas previously closed to the public — will soon be opened for visitors.

The German Ambassador was given an exclusive preview of these newly restored underground sections during a recent visit to the Fort. The initiative is expected to attract more tourists and strengthen cultural ties between Pakistan and Germany.
