UK and Pakistan mark 17 years of counter-terrorism cooperation

The UK High Commission has highlighted the significant milestone of 17 years of cooperation between the UK and Pakistan in counter-terrorism efforts. The partnership has focused on training personnel, neutralizing Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), and developing the Counter Explosive and Munitions School in Risalpur.

This collaboration has been instrumental in enhancing Pakistan’s capabilities to combat terrorism and has contributed to regional security. The UK’s support has included providing instruction and expertise to Pakistani forces, helping them to detect and dismantle IEDs, and sharing intelligence to disrupt terrorist networks. The Counter Explosive and Munitions School in Risalpur has been a key component of this cooperation, providing training to Pakistani security forces on how to identify and neutralize explosive threats.

The school’s facilities include a mock urban environment, allowing trainees to practice real-world scenarios. This milestone marks not only a celebration of past achievements but also a commitment to future cooperation between the UK and Pakistan in the fight against terrorism.
