Medvedev Reaches Dubai Final After Defeating Top Seed Auger-Aliassime

Dubai:Daniil Medvedev is one win away from claiming his first consecutive title at a single tournament after defeating top seed Felix Auger-Aliassime 6-4, 6-2 to reach the Dubai final on Friday.

The former world number one, who has 22 career titles but has never won the same tournament twice, will face Dutch world number 25 Tallon Griekspoor, the giant-killer who stunned fifth seed Andrey Rublev 7-5, 7-6(8/6) in a dramatic semifinal.

Griekspoor battled a groin/hamstring issue during the match but delivered a brilliant serving display, producing 19 aces and taking the tiebreak in the second set to advance. Medvedev, meanwhile, credited the fast courts for his strong performance and expressed confidence heading into Saturday’s final.
