Los Angeles – Kai Trump, the 18-year-old influencer and granddaughter of US President Donald Trump, is facing a wave of online criticism after posting a vlog that shows her shopping at the upscale Los Angeles supermarket Erewhon while accompanied by Secret Service agents.
The video, titled “I Brought My Secret Service to Erewhon,” was shared on her YouTube channel and quickly went viral, sparking a debate about privilege, tone-deafness, and the cost of everyday life.
A Luxury Haul
The vlog documents Kai’s visit to the high-end grocery chain, famous for its celebrity-endorsed products and premium prices. During the outing, she sampled several items before purchasing the store’s iconic $22 Hailey Bieber-inspired strawberry smoothie and a $128 Erewhon sweatshirt. The total cost of her shopping trip was reported to be over $233.
While placing items in her trolley, Kai made a joke about the expense that has since become the focal point of the backlash.
“I’m like about to go bankrupt with this stuff,” she said with a laugh to the camera. Moments later, she added, “I’m gonna have to file for bankruptcy.”
Online Reaction
