The United States Embassy in Baghdad came under a coordinated rocket and drone attack early Tuesday morning, according to Iraqi security sources.
Officials reported that Iraq’s air defense systems successfully intercepted several incoming drones and rockets before impact. However, debris from intercepted projectiles reportedly fell داخل the embassy compound, triggering a loud explosion and sending plumes of smoke into the sky.
Initial reports indicate that no casualties have been recorded.
In a separate incident, another attack targeted a residence داخل the heavily fortified presidential compound in Baghdad’s Al-Jadriya district, raising further concerns about the امنیت situation in the capital.
Security sources suspect that Iran-linked armed groups operating in Iraq may be behind these attacks. Such groups have previously targeted US interests in the region, particularly amid escalating tensions between Iran and the United States.
The latest developments highlight growing instability in Iraq and raise fears of a broader regional escalation, as geopolitical rivalries continue to intensify across the Middle East.
