Donald Trump Calls NATO Allies ‘Cowards’ Over Iran War, Sparks Global Tensions

U.S. President Donald Trump has ignited fresh controversy after labeling NATO allies as “cowards” for refusing to provide military assistance in the escalating Iran conflict.

In a fiery post on his social media platform, Trump criticized members of NATO for failing to support U.S. efforts to secure the strategically critical Strait of Hormuz—a vital global oil transit route.

“Without the USA, NATO is a paper tiger,” Trump declared, accusing allied nations of avoiding risk while benefiting from American military actions. He further claimed that the conflict had already been “militarily won,” and blamed allies for complaining about rising oil prices without contributing to reopening the waterway.

The remarks come amid rising global tensions following the US-Israel strikes on Iran 2026, which triggered retaliation from Tehran and severely disrupted shipping in the region. The Strait of Hormuz, through which nearly a fifth of the world’s oil supply passes, has been effectively blocked, causing a surge in global energy prices.

While several major powers—including the UK, France, Germany, and Japan—have expressed willingness to support efforts in principle, they have stopped short of committing troops or direct military involvement. Some countries have insisted on a ceasefire before taking further action.

Trump’s latest comments highlight growing divisions within NATO and raise serious questions about the future of the alliance, especially at a time of escalating geopolitical instability.

As the situation unfolds, the world watches closely—balancing the risks of wider conflict against the urgent need to secure one of the most critical النفط routes on the planet.
