He stressed that food safety remains a fundamental component of public health, economic stability, and sustainable development.

The premier highlighted the importance of strengthening food quality standards and ensuring that food reaching consumers is free from contamination and health risks.

Shared Responsibility

Prime Minister Shehbaz emphasized that ensuring food safety requires cooperation from all segments of society.

He urged federal and provincial governments, farmers, universities, research institutions, food producers, and consumers to play an active role in developing a stronger and more secure food system.

“Every individual should play a vital role in safeguarding food safety,” he stated.

The prime minister noted that public awareness, responsible agricultural practices, scientific research, and effective regulatory mechanisms are essential for achieving long-term food security.

Importance of World Food Safety Day

World Food Safety Day is observed annually to raise awareness about the importance of preventing foodborne diseases and ensuring that food remains safe throughout the supply chain.

According to international health organizations, unsafe food can lead to numerous health complications and poses significant challenges to healthcare systems and economies worldwide.

The observance also highlights the role of governments, industries, and consumers in maintaining high food safety standards.

Strengthening Pakistan’s Food System

The government has been focusing on improving agricultural productivity, enhancing food quality controls, and supporting initiatives that promote sustainable farming practices.

Experts believe that investment in research, innovation, food inspection systems, and farmer education can significantly improve food safety and reduce risks associated with contaminated food products.

The prime minister said Pakistan must continue working towards a food system that not only meets nutritional needs but is also resilient to challenges such as climate change, population growth, and supply chain disruptions.

Ensuring a Healthier Future

Prime Minister Shehbaz concluded by reiterating the government’s commitment to protecting public health through stronger food safety measures and encouraging nationwide participation in this effort.

He expressed confidence that through collaboration and awareness, Pakistan can build a healthier future and ensure safe food for present and future generations.
