One dead and dozens injured after two trains crash North of London

LONDON: At least one person was killed after two trains collided north of London, according to emergency officials. Rescue teams, police, and medical personnel rushed to the scene to assist passengers and secure the area. Several people were reportedly injured, with some receiving treatment at the site while others were taken to nearby hospitals.

Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the collision. Rail services in the affected area were disrupted as emergency crews worked to clear the tracks and assess the damage. Further details are expected as the investigation continues.

The RMT union, which represents many railway workers, said it was monitoring the situation and expressed its concern over reports of “serious injuries” sustained by both train staff and passengers.
East Midlands Railway said in a statement that the 4:40 p.m. train from Corby to St. Pancras had been involved in the collision with the 3:50 p.m. train from Nottingham to the same station.
The company said it had canceled all trains to and from St. Pancras for the rest of Friday and it was unable to confirm the schedule for Saturday.
