Iran Arrests Dozens Accused of Sharing Sensitive Information with Israel

Authorities in Iran have arrested dozens of individuals accused of sharing sensitive information with Israel, according to local media reports on Sunday. The arrests come as Israeli and US fighter jets continue to carry out strikes on targets inside the country.

The semi-official Tasnim News Agency reported that at least 20 people were detained in northwestern Iran after prosecutors accused them of sending location details of military and security installations to Israel.

In northeastern Iran, another 10 suspects were reportedly arrested on similar charges. Authorities allege that some of the individuals were gathering intelligence on sensitive locations as well as economic infrastructure.

According to statements cited by Tasnim, a provincial branch of the intelligence wing of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps claimed that Israel and the United States were attempting to destabilise the country.

Officials alleged that alongside military strikes, foreign powers were activating informants and spies to provoke unrest and riots within Iran.

Meanwhile, the Student News Network reported that three additional individuals were detained in Lorestan Province. Authorities accused them of attempting to influence public opinion and damage mourning symbols.

Security sources cited by Reuters previously reported that Israel had begun targeting certain security checkpoints in Iran based on intelligence provided by informants operating inside the country.

The arrests come amid rising tensions following months of political unrest. Earlier this year, protests broke out across Iran, prompting what authorities described as one of the largest crackdowns in the history of the Islamic Republic.

Iranian officials blamed both Israel and the United States for supporting unrest aimed at destabilising the government.
