National Assembly Passes Unanimous Resolution Praising Armed Forces for Response to India During “Marka-e-Haq”

ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly of Pakistan on Monday passed a unanimous resolution expressing national pride in the country’s armed forces, praising their “vigilance, professionalism and resolute response” during what it described as Indian aggression in May 2025 under the military operation named Marka-e-Haq.

The resolution, moved by Azam Nazeer Tarar, highlighted events following the Pahalgam incident in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) on April 22, 2025, and condemned what it called a “malicious campaign” by India alleging Pakistan’s involvement without evidence.

Lawmakers stated that Pakistan had strongly condemned the incident and had even offered participation in a neutral and transparent investigation proposed by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

Despite this, the resolution said India carried out an unprovoked airstrike on May 6, 2025, targeting civilian areas, which Pakistan termed unacceptable aggression.

The House paid rich tribute to the armed forces for their response under the leadership of Chief of Defence Forces and Army Chief Asim Munir, crediting them with successfully launching Operation Bunyanum Marsoos in retaliation.

Members praised the Pakistan Air Force for swiftly establishing air superiority and claimed it shot down multiple Indian aircraft, including Rafale jets. The resolution also stated that Pakistani forces targeted and destroyed several Indian military installations, including brigade headquarters, air bases, and BrahMos-related facilities.

It further claimed that Pakistan’s JF-17 Thunder aircraft destroyed India’s S-400 air defence system, valued at approximately $1.5 billion, while the Pakistan Navy was praised for preventing maritime incursions and forcing retreat.

The resolution also acknowledged the role of cyber warfare units, stating that Pakistani cyber experts successfully countered attacks and disrupted several Indian systems during the conflict.

Lawmakers paid tribute to soldiers, airmen, sailors, and officers who lost their lives, describing them as martyrs who defended the country across land, air, sea, and cyber domains.

The House reiterated that Pakistan seeks peace but warned that any violation of its sovereignty would be met with a strong response.

“Pakistan’s desire for peace should not be mistaken for weakness,” the resolution stated, reaffirming the country’s commitment to defend its territorial integrity.

During the session, members also observed moments of grief for deceased family members of lawmakers and security personnel who recently lost their lives in various incidents.

Speaker Ayaz Sadiq informed the House about the deaths of relatives of several MPs, while lawmakers offered prayers and condolences.

The resolution also paid tribute to security personnel, including Lieutenant Colonel Khalid Hussain, who was martyred in an operation against militants, and condemned recent terrorist incidents including the attack on a police station in Bannu.

Separately, Attaullah Tarar informed the House that both federal and provincial governments were working to support media organisations and protect media workers amid financial and operational challenges.

He said discussions were ongoing with the Pakistan Broadcasters Association to ensure job security and improved service structures for media employees.

Tarar added that the government aimed to resolve media sector issues through consultation with coalition partners and opposition members to ensure stability in the industry.
