Punjab Government Announces Major Bureaucratic Reshuffle Days Before Eid

LAHORE — The Punjab government on Tuesday announced a wide-ranging reshuffle in the provincial bureaucracy, issuing orders for multiple transfers and postings across various departments and districts just days before Eid-ul-Fitr.

The extensive administrative overhaul affects officials at both the secretariat and district levels, with new appointments taking effect immediately.

Key Secretariat Appointments

According to official notifications, Muhammad Faisal Saleem has been posted as Additional Secretary to the Additional Chief Secretary, a key position within the provincial administrative hierarchy. Asadullah has been appointed as Additional Secretary (Admin) in the Communication and Works Department, where he will oversee administrative affairs.

Khurram Pervez has been transferred to the Punjab Rural Municipal Services Company (PRMSC), while Rana Musa Tahir has been appointed Deputy Secretary in the Finance Department, strengthening the financial wing of the provincial government.

In the energy sector, Ahmed Raza Butt has been appointed as Deputy Secretary in the Energy Department, a role that carries significance amid ongoing power sector reforms.

District-Level Movements

Several appointments have been made at the district level, with a focus on the position of Additional Deputy Commissioner Revenue (ADCR). Sherina Ghulam Murtaza Junejo has been posted as ADCR in Faisalabad, Ahmed Haroon as ADCR in Sargodha, and Sarah Loni as ADCR in Narowal.

Shagufta Jabeen has been posted as ADCR in Bahawalpur, Muhammad Fazal Abbas in Khanewal, and Marhaba Naimat in Sahiwal, ensuring administrative coverage across key districts of the province.

Wildlife and Development Authorities

In the wildlife sector, Fahad Mahmood has been appointed as Additional Chief of the Punjab Wildlife and Parks Department, bringing new leadership to the agency responsible for conservation and park management.

Captain (R) Sami Tayyab Khan has been posted to the Lahore Development Authority (LDA), while Captain (R) Osama Majeed has been assigned to the Punjab Food Authority, both positions that involve significant regulatory and development responsibilities.

OSD Postings and Replacements

Administrative changes also include several officers being placed on the Officers on Special Duty (OSD) list. Saria Haider, previously ADCR Mianwali, has been made OSD, with Mohammad Shahid appointed in her place.

Labah Masih Zeeshan, ADCG Toba Tek Singh, has also been directed to report as OSD, with Tariq Usman appointed to the role. Similarly, Ghulam Mustafa, ADCG Bahawalpur, has been made OSD, while Ayesha Khan has been posted as ADCG Bahawalpur in his place.

Departmental Positions

Additional appointments include Zainab Jehandad as Deputy Secretary in the Interior Department, Muhammad Kamran Afzal as Deputy Secretary in the Local Government Department, and Anam Babar as Deputy Secretary in the Specialized Healthcare Department.

Alizeh Rehan has been appointed as Deputy Commissioner General (DCG) in Jhelum, while Anwar Ali has been posted as Assistant Deputy Commissioner General (ADCG) in Faisalabad. Sufyan Dilawar has been named ADCG in Nankana Sahib.

Administrative Rationale

The large-scale reshuffle is aimed at improving administrative efficiency and strengthening governance across the province ahead of the Eid holidays. Officials are expected to assume their new responsibilities immediately, ensuring continuity in public service delivery during the festive period.

Sources indicate that the transfers and postings are part of routine administrative adjustments, though the timing just before Eid has drawn attention from observers who note the government’s focus on positioning key officials ahead of the holiday season.

All notifications have been issued by the relevant departments, and affected officers have been directed to report to their new postings without delay.
