Security Forces Thwart Infiltration Bid in North Waziristan as Operation Ghazab Lil Haq Intensifies

Security forces successfully foiled another infiltration attempt by terrorists near Sadaq village in North Waziristan on Friday, as part of the ongoing Operation Ghazab Lil Haq, security sources confirmed.

According to officials, militants affiliated with the Afghan Taliban and the group referred to as “Fitna al-Khawarij” attempted to cross into Pakistani territory. Troops responded swiftly, forcing the attackers to retreat after facing strong resistance on multiple fronts. Security forces remain on high alert to prevent cross-border infiltration and ensure regional stability.

Cross-Border Airstrikes:
The development follows successful Pakistani airstrikes conducted overnight on March 12-13, targeting terrorist hideouts in Afghanistan. Security sources said the strikes destroyed the Tarawo terrorist camp in Kandahar and the Sherinaw camp in Paktia province. A video of the airstrikes has also been released.

Operation Ghazab Lil Haq:
Launched on February 27, the operation—whose name translates to “Wrath for the Truth” or “Fury for the sake of justice”—came after Afghan Taliban forces fired on Pakistani border posts, prompting swift military retaliation.

Casualties and Impact:
Information Minister Attaullah Tarar reported that at least 641 Afghan Taliban operatives have been killed and over 855 injured since the operation began. Additionally:

  • 243 check posts used by Afghan Taliban operatives have been destroyed.
  • 42 check posts were captured and subsequently destroyed.
  • 219 tanks, armoured vehicles, and artillery guns have been eliminated.
  • 65 locations across Afghanistan were effectively targeted by air strikes.

Diplomatic Stance:
Pakistan has reiterated its demand for verifiable assurances from Kabul that Afghan territory will not be used for terrorist activities against Pakistan. Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Andrabi stated, “Since such assurances have not been received, Pakistan will continue to follow its existing policy,” adding that Islamabad reserves the right to respond in self-defense against cross-border attacks.

The spokesperson also confirmed that two Pakistani nationals lost their lives in the UAE during the hostilities, with Pakistani missions facilitating the repatriation of the deceased.

Security officials have affirmed that Operation Ghazab Lil Haq will continue until its designated objectives are fully achieved.
