ARIFWALA — At least six people were killed and dozens more injured in a horrific collision between a passenger bus and a van on Burewala Road in Arifwala on Thursday, rescue officials said.
The dead and injured were rushed to a nearby hospital, where medical teams described the condition of several victims as critical.
Speed a Factor, Investigation Underway
Preliminary police investigations suggested that overspeeding by both drivers may have contributed to the crash, which occurred on a busy stretch of the road.
“Initial reports indicate that both vehicles were traveling at high speed,” a local police official said. However, he added that authorities were examining the incident from multiple angles, and no final conclusion had been reached.
Emergency Response
Rescue teams arrived at the scene shortly after the collision and worked to extract trapped passengers from the wreckage. The injured were transported to hospital in ambulances and private vehicles as emergency services mobilized quickly.
Hospital administration confirmed that several of the injured remain in critical condition, and efforts are underway to provide all possible medical support.
