Hezbollah rocket fire toward Israel during escalating conflict in southern Lebanon

Hezbollah Fires 600 Projectiles in 24 Hours as Israel-Lebanon Front Intensifies

A sharp escalation along the Israel-Lebanon border has unfolded, with Israeli media reporting that Hezbollah launched approximately 600 rockets, drones, and mortar rounds within a 24-hour period, marking one of the most intense barrages since the conflict reignited earlier this month.

According to Channel 24, the majority of the projectiles were directed at Israeli forces operating in southern Lebanon, with others targeting areas across the border inside Israel.

Surge in Cross-Border Attacks

Israeli officials indicated that more than half of the launches were aimed specifically at troops engaged in ground operations in southern Lebanon. The surge in attacks reflects a significant intensification of hostilities along what has become a rapidly expanding front in the wider regional conflict.

Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar said the cumulative number of projectiles fired by Hezbollah since early March has exceeded 3,500, underscoring the sustained nature of the confrontation.

Israeli Military Operations Expand

In response, Israeli forces have continued what they describe as “focused ground operations” to establish a forward security zone in southern Lebanon. The campaign includes both airstrikes and ground maneuvers aimed at pushing Hezbollah forces away from the border.

The Israeli military confirmed that one soldier was killed in combat on Thursday, bringing the total number of Israeli fatalities in southern Lebanon to three since the escalation began.

Heavy Toll in Lebanon

Lebanese authorities report a mounting humanitarian toll from Israeli strikes. Since early March, at least 1,094 people have been killed and more than 3,100 injured in Lebanon, highlighting the severe impact on civilian populations.

Widespread airstrikes have damaged infrastructure and displaced communities, raising concerns among international observers about the risk of a prolonged conflict.

Regional Conflict Expands

The escalation on the Lebanon front is closely linked to the broader regional confrontation involving Iran, United States, and Israel.

The current phase of fighting began after a cross-border attack on March 2 and has intensified alongside a wider military campaign targeting Iran. Retaliatory strikes by Iran and allied groups have extended the conflict across multiple countries, including Jordan and Iraq.

Rising Risk of Multi-Front War

Military analysts warn that the scale and frequency of Hezbollah’s attacks could increase the likelihood of a broader regional war. The group’s ability to sustain high-volume strikes suggests significant operational capacity despite ongoing Israeli operations.

At the same time, Israel’s expansion of ground operations indicates a willingness to escalate further in an effort to neutralize threats along its northern border.

Analysis: A Dangerous Northern Front

The reported launch of 600 projectiles in a single day marks a critical escalation point in the Israel-Lebanon conflict. It signals that Hezbollah is prepared to sustain high-intensity operations, potentially stretching Israeli defenses across multiple fronts.

The situation also raises concerns about miscalculation. With simultaneous conflicts involving Iran and ongoing instability in Gaza, the risk of a full-scale regional war is increasing.

For now, the northern front has become one of the most volatile flashpoints in the Middle East, with both sides showing little sign of de-escalation. The coming days will be crucial in determining whether the conflict can be contained—or whether it will spiral into a wider confrontation with global implications
