Pakistan’s armed forces carried out precision strikes targeting militant infrastructure across Kabul and key border regions, hitting Taliban-linked positions and facilities used for terrorist activities, according to official sources on Monday.
The operations reportedly targeted military installations and logistical hubs associated with the Afghan Taliban, as well as elements described as “Fitna al-Khawarij,” a term used for militants linked to the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan.
Officials said multiple locations in Kabul and Nangarhar Province were struck during overnight air operations. According to sources, two major sites in Kabul — including ammunition depots and technical support facilities — were destroyed.
Footage circulating after the strikes showed large explosions and secondary detonations, suggesting that significant stockpiles of explosives had been hit.
In Nangarhar, Pakistani forces reportedly targeted four Taliban-linked facilities, destroying logistical zones, ammunition storage, and technical infrastructure tied to militant operations.
Authorities in Islamabad rejected claims by Taliban spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid that a drug treatment centre had been struck, calling the allegation “baseless” and insisting that only verified militant targets were engaged.
Border Operations Intensify
Separate operations were also conducted along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, particularly in Kurram and Bajaur sectors.
Security sources said forces targeted militant hideouts and operational posts used for cross-border attacks. Several positions were destroyed during the operations, and multiple militants were reportedly killed, while others fled.
In Bajaur, Pakistani forces launched a major retaliatory operation, striking Taliban positions close to the border using guided missile systems, resulting in further destruction of militant infrastructure.
Ongoing Campaign
Officials indicated that these operations are part of a broader military campaign aimed at eliminating cross-border militant threats. They emphasized that such actions would continue until all objectives related to national security are achieved.
The strikes mark a significant escalation in cross-border tensions, raising concerns about regional stability as both sides exchange claims over the nature and impact of the operations.
