At least six terrorists were killed during a Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) operation in the Shagai area of Lakki Marwat district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, officials confirmed on Saturday.
According to CTD sources, the operation led to a 40-minute gun battle between security personnel and militants. While six terrorists were killed during the exchange of fire, several of their accomplices managed to escape from the area.
Authorities said the process of identifying the slain militants was ongoing. Security forces recovered a cache of weapons from the site, including four Kalashnikov rifles, two pistols, eight hand grenades, and an improvised explosive device (IED).
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised the CTD officers and personnel for successfully eliminating the militants, commending their professionalism and dedication in combating terrorism.
“The war against terrorism will continue until it is completely eradicated from the country,” the prime minister said, highlighting the ongoing efforts of law enforcement agencies to ensure national security.
He also paid tribute to the sacrifices and commitment of Pakistan’s security forces, adding that the government and the entire nation stand united with them in the fight against terrorism.
